I found out about this 1963 Power Wagon Town Wagon in the summer of 1998 from my friend Gerry.

At the time this truck was located at a service station in Loves Park IL.

I called Ken, the owner, and got permission to go look the truck over.

When I went down and looked at this truck, I found that it was an original Poly 318 V8, NP420 4 speed truck. It had been swapped over to a 383 V8 and a 727 automatic. This PW TW had a LU-4 winch (instead of the proper LU-2) and some kind of huge bumper. The inside smelled real bad of mice, the drivers seat was broken(the seat back stayed fully reclined), there were some serious rust holes, and the truck had not run in 8 years.

I decided to buy the truck despite its problems because I really wanted to own a PW TW.

The owner and I agreed upon a price of $1,000, but he backed out of the deal two days before I was to pick it up.

This truck later sold in basically the same condition to Doug from AZ at the 2000 Vintage Power Wagon rally for $3,000.
